Washers
Washers
The Washers category covers all essential flat washers, finish washers, and hardware-grade washers offered by RockJock 4×4—designed to distribute load, protect surfaces, maintain alignment, and improve durability in suspension, sway-bar, and mounting applications. Whether you’re building a custom 4×4 rig, replacing worn hardware, or assembling a new suspension or sway-bar setup, washers are simple but critical components for reliability and longevity. To ensure your hardware is installed to the correct specifications, please refer to our Instruction Manuals.
What Washers Do & Why They Matter
- Load distribution & surface protection – Washers spread the load of bolts and nuts across a larger surface area, reducing indentation or damage on soft or thin mounting surfaces such as brackets or axle tubes.
- Proper torque & clamping – By providing a clean, flat seating surface, washers help bolts torque evenly and maintain proper preload, reducing loosening from vibration or off-road stress.
- Spacer and alignment control – In applications where geometry and spacing matter (control arms, sway bars, link rods, truss arms), washers can act as spacers or shims to fine-tune alignment and clearance.
- Corrosion and material isolation – When bolts interface with dissimilar materials (for example, steel bolts and aluminum arms), washers help minimize galvanic corrosion and surface damage.
Typical Washer Types & Options
- Flat steel washers – Standard hardened washers for general bolts and nuts, ideal for suspension mounts, bracket bolting, and control-arm hardware.
- Billet-finish washers – CNC-machined finish washers commonly included in RockJock arm hardware packs, combining strength, durability, and clean appearance for exposed components.
- Special-size washers – Oversized or custom-bored washers designed for larger-diameter bolts, sway-bar ends, or unique link-rod assemblies. These specialized hardware items can be sourced through a professional shop via our Dealer Locator.
Fitment & Use Cases
- Washers are universal hardware components suitable for nearly any suspension, bracket, or mounting assembly using bolts and nuts.
- Proper selection depends on matching the inner hole diameter, outer diameter, and washer thickness to the bolt size and mounting surface.
- For off-road builds, hardened steel or billet washers are strongly recommended to withstand vibration, high loads, and repeated articulation.
